I’m Baaack!

Posted by admin on May 22, 2010 in Health Issues

I’ve been without energy for a couple of months — bummer! Evidently, my body chemistry changed somewhere along the line, and it took some experimentation with medications to make things right. But right they are! Between the medications and the physical therapy, now I carry my cane “just in case,” but I don’t have to use it.

While watching my neighboring patients getting stuck at dialysis, I’ve noticed some of them squirming and wincing as the needles are inserted. This prompted me to ask them if they were aware of “ENLA CRE,” a cream you smear onto your access 30 minutes to an hour before your session. This cream numbs the area, so that needle insertion is pretty much painless. I told them to ask their doctor to write a prescription for it. Those that did, aren’t wincing any more.

This stuff is effective only if you wrap the area in a plastic wrap after applying it; it seems the wrap activates the the cream.

So much for this entry. Now that I have some of my energy back, I’ll try to post more often.
